Actress Pujita Ponnada is all set to play the leading lady in Aari Arjunan‘s Bhagavan. Aari made the announcement on his social media page. Poojita has already been part of Telugu films Rangasthalam and Kalki and made her Tamil debut in the 2019-thriller 7.
Talking about her role in the Kalingan-directorial, Aari says, “Bhagavan is a mythological period film with some portions set in the current times, which Pujita’s character is part of. This is not a run-of-the-mill heroine role. She plays an archaeologist and her character is an important one with a lot of scope to perform,” he says.
Aari adds that they needed a fresh face for the film, which is why they chose Pujita.
“The film should appeal to pan-India audiences and that’s how she came on board.” As for the film’s shoot, Aari says that he has only two days of shoot left. “There are many epic stories. But this one revolves around a story that is forgotten. It is inspired from both literature and fiction. Just like Magadheera has a current and period connection, this one too, straddles two worlds,” he says.
The first look of the film was released two months ago. “My character has many shades. In fact, this is the most challenging role I have done so far. I have done a lot of homework for it,” informs the actor. Just before the lockdown, the team shot a grand song sequence. “We erected a palace-like set and shot for the song. Kala master choreographed it. A lot of CG work will be done for the song.
It will definitely be one of the talking points,” says Aari, who will resume shooting once permission is granted after the lockdown.
