Amala Paul in Aadai
Amala Paul‘s rebellious character in Aadai is the first of its kind role in Tamil cinema.
The talented dusky actress pulled off a mentally and physically strenuous role effortlessly. It’s not easy for an actress to wear skin dress and convey the emotion of a girl who stuck in a lonely building without a single piece of cloth to cover her body! Though a section of critics appreciated her performance, some of them criticized the film for its climax twist and the overall message. The film did not score big at the box office.
Manju Warrier in Asuran
Manju Warrier, the top heroine in Malayalam cinema made her debut in Tamil with Dhanush’s Asuran. For an actress from Malayalam cinema, playing a rural centric strong woman Pachaiyamal who hails from the down south of Tamil Nadu must have been a tough task but Manju pulled it off effortlessly.
As a matter of fact, her dubbing was very good in the film that she got the diction right. She was the perfect foil to Dhanush who played the male lead.
