Last evening, it was almost like an alumni association as the crew members of Oru Thalai Raagam gathered again for a film’s music release. The film titled ‘Manal Naharam’ is directed by Oru Thalai Raagam fame Shankar.
The film stars Prajin, Gowtham Krishna, Varuna Shetty, V.K. Vijesh Menon and Sakshi Sharma in lead roles. Renil Gowtham has composed music and Sreedhar has handled cinematography.
Every crew member of Oru Thalai Raagam including actress Roopa, Cinematographer Rajashekar, Thyagu and many others were present. Speaking on the occasion TR said, “In the past couple of events, many alleged me of controversial talks. Over here, I have come as a gentle breeze and not a storming wind. Even today, I worship the college where we shot ‘Oru Thalai Raagam’ before 34 years. I am so much delighted to see my crewmembers coming together again. Today, Tamil cinema has lost the value of culture and there is no scope for the sentiments of family and relationships. Well, our neighbouring industries of Malayalam and Kannada follow the cultural pattern in their movies.
We see Mammootty, Mohanlal and Dileep appearing in traditional costumes of Dhoti, but here everyone has shifted towards jeans.
Ask them and they ‘Trend’ and it is same with stories produced these days. In those times, there was true love projected in the films and today, it has become a matter of flesh on the screens. I am planning to make a film in Malayalam as it carries more values for sentiments and relationships.”
Adding more about the anti-piracy, TR said, “Many people from Tamil Nadu travelled all the way to Kerala to watch Mohanlal’s Drishyam, but our Tamil movies are very easily pirated… We must appreciate the people in Karnataka and Kerala for being ardent film buffs and not favouring anti-piracy elements.”
