After Kangana Ranaut, Shruti Hassan agrees to play mommy!
Looks like the Queen of Bollywood has set a benchmark for actors in Bollywood and Shruti Hassan is the first to follow in her footsteps. After Kangy gave a green signal to playing mommy to a 14-year old in Sujoy Ghosh‘s Durga Rani Singh; Shruti Hassan will age onscreen.
Tigmanshu Dhulia was in the news for casting Vidyut Jamwal as the younger version of Irrfan Khan in his film Yaara. Just when he was about to lose sleep looking for an actor to play an older Shruti Hassan, the Ramaiyya Vastavaiya bombshell put his mind at ease by volunteering to play her older self. The Luck actor will be seen sporting grey hair for the film that spans two distinct eras.
Shruti’s bravado is commendable. Actors like Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla have shied away from playing elderly characters in the past but the younger lot of actors has proven to be less vain.
Bollywood heroines like Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut should be thanked for being so inspirational. Had it not been for them, younger actors wouldn’t have found the courage to experiment without fear.
Don’t you agree?
Shruti Hassan – 2014 Box Office Queen!
Shruti Hassan is one of the very few actors who are known to have multiple kinds of talent in them.
Right from her small appearance in ‘Anjali‘ to her debut Telugu film ‘Anaganaga O Dheerudu‘ and now to the super-successful ‘Race Gurram‘, Shruti Hassan has sure come a long way.
Having made her singing debut in the Tamil film ‘Thevar Magan‘, Shruti always had a thing for singing which she continued as long as she made her acting with the Bollywood film,’Luck’ opposite Imran Khan. She made her singing debut in Bollywood with ‘Chachi 420′ featuring her father Kamal Hassan.
Her debut film,’Luck‘ earned her negative remarks for her ‘deadpan expressions’. However, the starlet was in no mood to take a back seat and headed south where she made her Telugu debut opposite Siddharth. From there on there has been no looking back and she has been a part of some huge successes like ‘Gabbar Singh’,’Oh my friend’ and ‘3’.
Coming to 2014, the Star kid has already delivered a huge hit in ‘Race Gurram‘ which continues to rake in the moolah at the box office while you’re reading this. Race Gurram fetched her good reviews from the critics and the response from the audience was encouraging too.
She has a long list of films lined up for her in 2014 which may well be her year and probably make her the box office queen of 2014!
She has a slew of Tamil movies lined up as well- ‘Ennamo Yedho‘,’Vadi Vasal‘ and ‘Poojai‘.
Shruti Hassan’s hot new look in ‘Poojayi’ stills has already set tongues wagging.
