Actress Samantha earned a name for herself in Tollywood and achieved stardom here with back-to-back hits. Despite being born to a Telugu father, she sees herself as a Tamilian as she was brought up in Chennai. Now, the actress wants to carve a niche for herself in her homeland too.
In a recent interview to a popular tabloid, Samantha was asked if her call sheets for the entire 2013 have been blocked by her Telugu films and she replied that all of her Tollywood commitments would end by this year and Tamil Thambis will be watching more of her in 2014, whereas Telugu films will take a backseat.
Samantha is yet to score her first success with straight Tamil film. Although Makhi (Eega) is a hit in Tamil too, it will be treated as a dubbing flick. Even the bilingual film ‘Neethane En Ponvasantham‘ (Tamil version of Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu) is a commercial failure.
So, it’s time for her to prove she can achieve star status in Kollywood too. Sam has couple of biggies opposite Tamil Stars in the pipeline. The first and foremost will be the crazy project of Surya and Lingusamy‘s stylish flick and then a movie with the next superstar Vijay.
Good luck golden-leg girl!
