It is said that actress Vijayalakshmi, younger daughter of national award-winning director Agathiyan, has refused to lend her voice to Deepika Padukone, who has played superstar Rajnikanth’s heroine in the soon-to-be-released Kochadaiyaan: The Legend. The film is billed as the country’s first-ever 3-D animation film and is also the debut film as director for Rajini’s younger daughter Soundarya.
Deepika, who would be dubbing in her own voice for her character in the Hindi version, has reportedly told Soundarya about her inability to dub in her voice for the Tamil version. Kochadaiyaan, made using the ‘motion capturing technology’, is in the final stages of its post-production work and has music by A.R. Rahman. Rajinikanth has already sung songs in the film’s Tamil and Hindi version. The film’s audio-launch is expected to be held soon.
Readers might recall that Vijayalakshmi was first signed up by Soundarya as the heroine opposite Rajnikanth in the now-dropped Sultan The Warrior. Vijayalakshmi shot for the film for a week or so before the film was abandoned. Viji was obviously expecting a call from Soundarya to star in Kochadaiyaan but when Deepika was roped in as Rajini’s heroine, Viji’s disappointment knew no bounds.
Obviously, when Soundarya called her to dub for Deepika Padukone in Kochadaiyaan, it was Viji’s turn now to keep mum. It now remains to be seen as to whose voice Deepika gets in the Tamil version!
Deepika Padukone not dubbing for Kochadaiiyan!
The industry was abuzz with reports on how Deepika Padukone was all set to dub her lines in Tamil for her Kollywood debut, Kochadaiyaan.
A highlyplaced source from the film’s unit had also confirmed the reports, saying the actress was asked to learn her lines in Tamil and how she was working on getting her accent and pronunciation right. Now, we hear that the team has decided to use Deepika’s voice only for the film’s Hindi version.
A source says, “The team has already started dubbing for the film in Tamil, and they’ve got a seasoned dubbing artist to dub for Deepika. The lines are in chaste Tamil, which would have been a tad difficult for her. But the actress will be speaking her own lines in Hindi. In all probability, she will start dubbing by next month”.
