Priya Anand is brimming with confidence as her ambition of becoming a front-line actress has got a huge fillip with the success of her latest film Ethir Neechal opposite television anchor-turned-hero Sivakarthikeyan.
Directed by debutant RS. Durai Senthil Kumar, the film had Attakathi fame Nandita in a significant role. Music by Anirudh Ravichander was one of the pluses of the film, which is still going strong.
Priya, who debuted as heroine in Kollywood in 2009 with Vaamanan opposite Jai, starred in 180 opposite Siddharth in 2011. Neither of the films fared well at the box-office but thanks to her Telugu films, she got to play a significant role in last year’s Tamil-Hindi bilingual English Vinglish, the ‘comeback’ film of Bollywood’s ex-queen Sridevi.
She then got a few Tamil film offers and Ethir Neechal, the first among them, has now been declared a ‘hit’ making her shed the tag of an ‘unlucky’ actress. She now has Vanakkam Chennai opposite ‘Mirchi’ Siva, which would be the debut directorial venture of Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, wife of producer-distributor Udhayanidhi Stalin. Priya is also the heroine in Vai Raja Vai, which is Aishwarya Dhanush’s second film as director after last year’s 3.
The latest rumour doing rounds in Kollywood is about Priya and the steep hike in her fee per film. She has reportedly demanded and got more from the makers of her films with Kiruthiga and Aishwarya. Though the exact amount hasn’t been revealed, it is said that Priya Anand has entered the zone of Rs.30-50 lakhs per film!
We can only wish huge success for Priya Anand in Tamil films!
