Actor Srikanth’s Golden Friday Films has launched its maiden production venture in the form of Nambiar. The film has Srikanth and Sunaina playing lead roles. Ace comedian Santhanam would be playing a significant role in the film which is to be directed by debutant Ganesha.
Srikanth, who is on a comeback mode with hit films such as Nanban and Paagan in the past 15 months, is hoping that he has another winner on his hands. Srikanth’s next release, however, would be Om Shanthi Om, as the film’s shooting schedule has reached its last stages. Nambiar is billed as a film with a scientific backdrop and would have a good quotient of comedy as well.
Srikanth refers to Nambiar as his ‘dream project’. He also informed that they approached Mohan Nambiar, son of veteran villain actor Nambiar and got formal permission from him before naming the film after the late actor. Mohan reportedly blessed Srikanth and the crew huge success. In his heydays, MN. Nambiar was a celebrated villain in MGR’s films and MGR reportedly preferred Nambiar to play the villain in most of his films.
Santhanam is said to have loved the script and has allotted bulk dates to the crew of Nambiar. He plays a parallel role to that of the hero. Sunaina, last spotted in the Vishal–Trisha starrer Samar in a blink-and-miss role, gets to play the lead role opposite. Director Ganesha has worked as Tollywood director SS Rajamouli’s assistant and is now making his debut as director in Kollywood.
Ganesha says it’s a science fiction film loaded with comedy. Vijay Antony scores the film’s music which has Jayaprakash, Subbu, John Vijay, Devadarshini and Sriranjani essaying significant roles. M.S. Prabhu is the cinematographer while Vivek Harsha is the editor. Dileep Subbarayan is in charge of handling stunt choreography.
