An upcoming film titled Dum Tea, produced by a popular pop band from Singapore, is to be the first-ever Tamil film based fully in pop music. The band, which was a hugely popular one in Singapore, had conducted many concerts and made music videos and is foraying into film production for the first time with Dum Tea.
The audio-launch of Dum Tea was held in Chennai’s AVM Studios yesterday in which all the crew members of the film took part and looked very happy. The music album of the film consists of 7 songs; the trailer of the film was also launched on the occasion. Popular RJ Dheena took part in the event and wished the film a huge success.
Director of the film, Krishano, has also played a prominent role in the film along with Kevi J and Pardi. The film’s shoot is yet to be wrapped up as the director is still in search of the ‘ideal face’ to play the heroine in the film. “Usually, youth drink tea to off-load their mental stress or have a dum (act of smoking in colloquial language). We have given an appropriate title to the film as it’s about youths.
“I thought of bringing out a music album on the global level. The idea is still there. Dum Tea would be a jolly, fun film where we have also narrated the problems faced by today’s youths. The script is about the unexpected hurdles a Tamil music troupe on tour abroad faces. There is also romance in it; we didn’t sweat much for the story as it’s mainly based on our own personal experiences,” says Krishano.
