Separate complaints have been filed against director Bala at Kumbakonam and Thiruvidaimarudur police stations for reportedly insulting Indian currency and Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. The complaints have been filed by none other the functionaries of the moral police of Kollywood ( Hindu Makkal Katchi).
Trouble erupted when a felicitation function for Bala was organized in Coimbatore on 25th April by Naam Thamizhar, a political outfit floated by Seeman.
Speaking at the event, Bala narrated in detail the various difficulties and tough times he had faced in his life. He revealed that during the days of poverty in his life, he and Seeman had been staying together in a single room.
“Those days we were so poverty stricken that we had to even depend on others hand for Rs 10 or 20, In those day we had a style of even asking money, when i needed money i would ask to Seeman to give me 10 ‘Lakshmi’ or 20 ‘Lakshmi’ and even he used to ask me in the same manner whenever he needed. It was only when we got our first film offer that we got to see so much of money around a lakh rupee in our hands. In Joy we spread all the currency on the floor and even jumped over the money” were the words reportedly part of Bala’s speech.
In this context, Gurumurthy, state secretary of HMK, has filed a complaint with the Kumbakonam Police demanding initiation of appropriate action against Bala who had insulted Indian currency as well as Goddess Lakshmi, revered as the supreme Goddess by millions of Hindus. A similar complaint has been filed with the Thiruvidaimarudur police too by another functionary of HMK demanding action against Bala.
Did Bala do any wrong? Depends on what mind you look at it.
