When it comes to Indian films in general and Tamil films in particular, not often sequel films continue from where the first part or the second part ended. However, director Hari’s upcoming film Singam-2, a sequel to his highly successful Singam, attempts exactly this.
Hari is upbeat about the film’s prospects at the box-office as he gives us a sneak peak into the film’s script.
“All the stars, technicians and assistants who worked in the film are working in the sequel as well. The character of Prakash raj, who dies at the end of the first part, won’t be there in the sequel; Santhanam has been added in the sequel to provide comic relief. I had a rough outline in my mind about the sequel even when I was shooting Singam.
“I could find time only later to give the outline a definite shape and change into a pucca script. The words ‘hunt continues…’ at the end of the first part raised the expectation levels among the fans and movie-goers as to what might be in the offing in the sequel, if at all it is planned. I was asked by many as to when would I be starting the sequel; buoyed by the response, I decided to start the sequel.
“Script of Singam-2 starts in South India and ends in South Africa. The climax has been shot abroad. The film’s pace won’t be any less than the first-half. Hansika Motwani is an added attraction in the film.
