Actress Shruti Hassan a actress, who has a mind of her own and is not influenced by any of her parents in taking up/rejecting film offers, recently said ‘no’ to a film opposite Puneet Rajkumar of Sandalwood.
Sandalwood has always thrived on heroines from other languages and its rare that Kannadiga heroines such as Divya Spandana stay on top in Sandalwood for a long time. In fact, Sandalwood takes the cake among the south Indian film industries in roping in heroines from the North. A casual look at the present scenario in Sandalwood would reveal that the leading heroines are from Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film industries.
Puneet, son of veteran actor Rajkumar, celebrated his birthday recently when the launch of his upcoming Kannada film was announced. Popular Tollywood director Jayanth would be directing Puneeth in the film for which Shruti was approached to play Puneet’s heroine.
Shruti Hassan, however, excused herself out of the project saying ‘no’ citing her busy call-sheet assignments which would keep her busy at least until August this year.
After Shruti Hassan’s refusal, reasons for which haven’t been revealed to the press, the crew is said to have approached the 24-year old Parineeti Chopra, an upcoming and promising heroine from Bollywood.
