Actress Ramya Nambeesan has a strange wish. Even as she seeks the top slot in Kollywood, she has expressed her wish not to acquire an ‘hourglass figure’. She has a very simple explanation to offer for taking such a decision.
Before you wonder how Ramya can stay plump in the land of Tamannaahs and Ileanas, listen to the Pizza girl explaining her views. “I love to get as close to my fans and the movie-goers. I know fans have built temples for the likes Khushboo, Namitha and Hansika Motwani. In order to stay in contention for a temple to be built for me, I would love to retain a slightly plump frame as I know that fans here love chubby actresses more!”
After debuting in the dud Raman Thediya Seethai opposite Cheran, Ramya has found acceptance among the Tamil movie-goers as an actress of substance thanks to her roles in films such as Kullanarikootam and Pizza. She now has a few interesting offers in Tamil including a glamour-filled role in CS Amudhan’s Rendavadhu Padam opposite Vimal. She also has Ya Ya, billed as another laugh-riot like Kanna Laddu Thinna Asaiya.
“I don’t want to get slotted into a particular image. I only want roles which help reveal whatever acting prowess I have in me,” says Remya. To a suggestion that she can try and trim down to get a ‘perfect figure’, Ramya is quick to respond. “Of course, it’s not a big deal; I can do it at any time. However, Tamil fans have always hugely patronized actresses with not-so-perfect figures. I too would love to fall into that category.
“Come to think of it, I might even stand a possibility of a temple built in my name in Tamil Nadu if I remain plump. So, the frame I’m maintaining at present is a result of some conscious thinking,” concludes Ramya.
