The ravishing Tamanna who made her first on screen debut in Bollywood and then shifted her career base to South, is being re-launched with director Sajid Khan‘s 1983 remake ‘Himmatwala‘, that had Jeetendra and Sridevi in lead. While her first Hindi movie ‘Chand Sa Roshan Chehra‘ was super flop, Tamanna bagged instant acclaim the time she stepped into Tamil films and later in Telugu – thus becoming one of the favourite stars down south.
Thanking her ‘Himmatwala‘ director Tamanna said that she feels gratitude for re-launching her in Bollywood. “Sajid hadn’t seen any films of mine and also he refused to see any work of mine… He briefly met me only for fifteen minutes and made up his mind… ,” revealed Tamanna who considers director Sajid Khan as a person who has lots of conviction in whatever he does and she truly respects him for having belief in her without seeing any of her work.
Interestingly Tamanna watched the original ‘Himmatwala‘ only once after the remake was offered and that to especially because of the director. “My reason for watching the film was to see what really inspired Sajid so much and why was he so obsessive and so much in love with that film,” remarked the bubbly beauty who was in awe with the fact that the filmmaker watched ‘Himmatwala‘ nearly 36 times in theatre during his college days. She observed that Sajid makes movies like an audience. He understands what the audience expects when they come to movie theatre. He enjoys every movie making process.
On her co-star and lead hero Ajay Devgn, Tamanna is pretty impressed with his simplicity and considers him as a very versatile actor. “Ajay Devgn being superstar he is, is extremely grounded, extremely simple human being. I think what people really, really like about him on screen, is the honesty the way in which he plays every character…,” shared Tamanna.
“He is one of the best actors we have in our country. He has done everything – an entire spectrum that an actor can have in Indian films – he has touched it all, successfully…” quote the actress who added to say that the film was a learning experience to work with Devgn.
Bannered under UTV Motion Pictures, ‘Himmatwala‘ hits the screens on 29 March 2013.
