The Telugu and US rights of Rajnikanth’s most-awaited movie Kochadaiyan has been sold for a reasonable price. Hyderabad based Lakshmy Ganapathy Films has purchased the Telugu rights of the movie titled Vikrama Simha.
The US rights of the movie have been acquired by Atmus Entertainment, a leading distributor of Tamil movies in the US.
Confirming the news, the company updated on a social networking site: “Entertainment is proud to announce we have acquired the USA theatrical rights of Superstar’s Kochadaiyan and Vikramasimha.” Kochadaiyan is all set to release in July this year.
The movie starring Rajnikanth and Deepika Padukone is the first film in India to use motion capturing techniques in 3D, in the likes of Hollywood movies such as “Avatar” and “The Adventure of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.” The movie directed by Rajnikanth’s second daughter, Soundarya, is now in the final stages of completion.
The “Kocahadaiyan” team has flown to China to begin the post production work. Dubbing will begin on 24 March. The movie is about Pandya king Kochadaiyan Ranadheeran. Rajnikanth reportedly plays a double role of a father and son. The movie boasts of an ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Nassar, Aadhi and Sarathkumar. Music is composed by Oscar winner AR Rahman.
