On the 21st of March, 2013, MTV India brought the VMAs home. Presenting MTV VMAI (MTV Video and Music Awards, India); the perfect mix of music, young & cool. While the various music industry try to even be a part of MTV VMAI, our only Southern youth Icon GV Prakash Kumar just went and bagged his award with a single song.
After getting accolades for his music in the critically acclaimed Bala’s Paradesi, GV Prakash Kumar, fondly called GV Prakash Kumar among friends hogged the limelight when his anthem for Sun Risers team became a rage. And now the icing on the cake was when he flew to Mumbai and rubbed shoulders with the hot and happening people at the first edition of MTV Video Music Awards India (VMAI) in Mumbai.
MTV VMA (MTV Video and Music Awards) was instituted in 1984 in the USA, to acknowledge choice music and videos. It is fondly referred to as ‘Oscars for Youth’, owing to the mass of audience that the show has garnered. Last year, the final Presidential debate was staged, drawing close to 20 million populace interacting online with the show. With an enviable list of jury members and nominees, the awards night was a glittering affair and brought together some of the greatest names from the world of music under one roof.
While the list of Bollywood musicians giving a tough competition to each other, GV Prakash Kumar won the best regional music video award for Uyrin Uyire from UTV Motion Pictures produced Thaandavam for the Best Regional Music Video recently.
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, the film has music by composed by GV Prakash Kumar himself and lyrics by NA Muthukumar . Singers Saindhavi and Sathya Prakash have sung the song and now is earning great reviews for the current number from cine goers. The young musician added another feature in his cap by gaining this award. Speaking about the video song, which was shot in the freezing weather of Dover in England using a helicopter, is the most expensive shot in the film, featuring the work of sand art experts, brought in from Germany.
The film features Vikram and Anushka in the lead roles. Music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar while cinematography is handled by Nirav Shah and editing by Anthony. GV Prakash Kumar expressed his hearty thankfulness and gratitude to everyone who were part of it over a social networking site. He also added that so far in his career, the whole album of the movie will always remain close to heart.
