Incurring loss with the distribution of Mani ratnam’s Kadal, a few groups of distributors are now gathering at the director’s office asking for some compensation.
It is worth mentioning that the trade reports were that the film had made a business of Rs 17Crores in Tamil Nadu alone while Lingusamy of Thirupathi Brothers had released the movie in three areas buying it for Rs 7Crores.
The film was released on 1 February and turned out to be a mediocre fare in box office.

An official press release from Madras Talkies mentions that Mani ratnam has nothing to do with the distributors as the production house had already sold the film to Gemini Industries and Imaging Ltd in March 2012 itself.
