Director Mani Ratnam may not be working with Ilayaraja for the past two decades, especially after the director launched AR Rahman in ‘Roja‘ in the early 1990. But this doesn’t mean that Mani Ratnam‘s admiration for the maestro has come down.
The ace filmmaker expressed it at a recent event in Chennai, which was organised to launch the book ‘Conversation with Mani Ratnam‘.
“Ilayaraja is a genius. I am nothing when I stood before him for the first time, asking him to compose music for my film. From that time, he gave life to my movies with his music,” said Mani Ratnam.
The book by National Award winning film critic Baradwaj Rangan carries his conversations with Mani Ratnam. The director has shared many a thing in the book.
