The new phrase which is used by the Tamil Nadu Government to refer to handicapped persons is ‘differently abled’. The Government firmly believes that persons with disability shouldn’t be branded as ‘handicapped persons’ but instead be known as ‘differently abled’ as most of them are quite competent in many skills despite their varied problems such as mobility, etc.
A cultural programme exclusively for persons from this category is to be held next Thursay (24th May) in Dubai which is being organized by Ameeraga Tamil Sangam based in Dubai. The venue of the event would be the Sheikh Rashid auditorium at the Indian High School in Dubai.
Buxom babe Namitha would be the special invitee who would be inaugurating the cultural evening which would also feature a Bharatnatyam dance performance by persons with varied degrees (percentages) of disability. Gokulnath, whose claim to fame was the dance reality television programme Maanada Mayilada being aired on Kalaignar TV, would present a ‘variety programme’ on that evening.
Transgender Rose would be compering the evening’s events, the tickets for which would be available on 17th and 18th of May. Those interested to get on-line tickets might visit the website http://www.uaetamilsangam.com/upcomingevent.asp
