It’s not a rarity for actors and actresses and others in the entertainment industry to be guided by fortune-tellers and sooth-sayers. Such instances are aplenty in film industries of almost all the languages in the country. The latest celebrity to join the numerology bandwagon and change her name has been the bubbly Hansika Motwani, who is the latest sensation in Tamil films.
Hansika Motwani’s first two films in Engeyum Kaadhal and Maappillai, which released in the first half of last year, were colossal failures though her role in the ‘Jayam’ Ravi-starrer Engeyum Kaadhal was appreciated by the critics. She then delivered her first hit in the form of Vijay’s Velayudham later in the year and is mighty happy about the fact that her latest release in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (OKOK) has been doing very well in theatres.
She has a few prestigious projects on hand including Simbu’s next film Vettai Mannan where she is the second heroine along with Deeksha Seth. She has also been signed up as Surya’s heroine by director Hari in his Singam-2, a sequel to his successful Singam which released two years ago. In order to ensure a long career for her, Hansika has decided to drop the ‘Motwani’ surname from her name on the advice of her numerologist.
She has made it known that from now onwards, she would love to be referred to as ‘Hansika’ and not as ‘Hansika Motwani’. Soon after the success of OKOK, she has another release in Sridhar coming up soon. The film is the dubbed Tamil version of the Telugu hit film O My Friend which stars Hansika, Shruti Hassan and Sidharth in lead roles.
