Actor Surya’s upcoming film Maatran would be released with the title Duplicate in the Telugu market. Surya’s films have always done well in the Telugu land and in the past 5-6 years, all his films have been dubbed into Telugu and have always been patronized in a big way by the people.
The film, which is Surya’s next after the colossal hit 7am Arivu, is being directed by K.V Anand and has the bubbly Kajal Agarwal paired up opposite Surya for the first time. Produced by Kalpathi Agoram’s AGS Entertainment, Maatraan has Surya playing five different roles. Harris Jayaraj would be scoring the film’s music.
In keeping with his reputation of holding his film’s shooting in countries which are rarely courted by Kollywood producers, KV Anand has held the film’s shooting in the Balcan countries of Russia, Serbia and Croatia besides in Macedonia and Albania. Viewers are, therefore, assured of a visual treat as they’d get to watch countries that most of us would only have seen in maps.
Though Duplicate is the dubbed version of Maatran in Telugu, the makers are doing everything at their behest to make the film appear like a ‘direct’ Telugu film. The film is likely to be released either in mid-May or early June.
Surya to dub on his own in Telugu
That ‘Maatran‘ would hit the screens in Telugu as ‘Duplicate‘ is no more news. But the news is that Surya would personally dub for the film! “Yes, I will speak on my own for my character. I am thrilled about it,” he says.
In a lighter vein, he says, “My younger brother Karthi is already dubbing on his own in Telugu and films like Aawara (Paiyaa) have fetched him good name. I am sure I will beat him by personally dubbing for Duplicate.”
Expressing gratitude to Telugu audience for their support to his family, Surya said, “It is great news that movies starring me and Karthi are expected in Andhra Pradesh. We are thankful to the overwhelming patronage here.”
On ‘Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi‘, the Tamil version of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati‘ which is currently hosting on Vijay TV, Suriya said, “I was bit nervous since this is my first television show as an anchor. But things are cool now.”
