Kamal Hassan is planning to restart his most ambitious project Marudhanayagam, which was halted in early 1997, due to budget issues. Now interestingly Ulaganayagan has an important role for which he wanted to rope in Superstar Rajnikanth.
Birdies say Marudhanayagam is a period film that is taken from the life of 18th century warrior Mohammed Yusuf Khan. Kamal Hassan is keen to revive this big budget movie that costs around 150 crores and he wanted to screen it in Telugu, Hindi and English alongside Tamil.
When asked about the details Kamal Hassan said, “Marudhanayagam is done with 25% of shooting and coincidentally we stopped it exactly where ten years are supposed to pass in the life of the hero.”
Kamal Hassan speaking about sharing the screen with Rajnikanth in this film said, “Yes, we have a role that is ideal for Rajnikanth in this film.” Concluding the talks Ulaganayagan said, “We have acted together in ten films in our career start, but no one has come up with a worthful script so far. It is up to me to bell the cat now.”
