Actress Taapsee has reportedly ‘hijacked’ the Telugu film Shadow from right under nose of her contemporary Richa Gangopadhyay. SouthDreamz.com readers might recall that Tapasee debuted as Dhanush’s heroine last year in the role of an Anglo-Indian girl in director Vetrimaran’s award-winning film Aadukalam. The film also got Dhanush his first-ever national award for ‘best actor’.
Taapsee had another release late last year in the form of Vandhaan Vendraan opposite Jeeva and directed by Kannan. The film was an average grossed. Taapsee then moved to Bollywood and Tollywood. She became an instant hit in Telugu movies. The latest info on Taapsee is that she has managed to wrest the upcoming Telugu film Shadow which has Venkatesh in the lead from right under the nose of Richa Gangopadhyay.
The producer, who has considering casting Richa Gangopadhyay as the heroine, have now signed up Taapsee. Despite pushing 50, Venkatesh is still in the reckoning to play the lead role opposite young heroines. His last film was Bodyguard opposite the not-so-young Trisha. Coming back to Shadow, Richa Gangopadhyay was reportedly narrated the story initially and even her fee had been agreed to.
Even as she was happy to be bagging a role opposite Venkatesh, the makers told her that she would have to play the role of an ultra-modern girl born and brought up in U.S. Richa Gangopadhyay, who had been brought up in U.S. in her personal life, was under the impression that the role would be nothing short of a cakewalk for her. All of a sudden, she received the sad news from the producer that as Tapasee looked more ‘modern’, she had been signed up as the heroine.
A shocked Richa Gangopadhyay is yet to come to grips with the fact that she is no more part of the project. Taapsee, who comes fully draped in Tamil films, does indulge in some ‘liberal skin show’ in all her Telugu films. Richa Gangopadhyay is also not found wanting when it comes to (s)exposing, as was witnessed in her Tamil film Osthi. We wonder what then would have happened which resulted in Shadow going out of Richa Gangopadhyay’s hands and over to Taapsee?
