National award-winning actress Priyamani’s (bad) luck with the Tamil film industry continues non-stop. The actress bagged her only national award for ‘best actress’, though, through the Tamil film Paruthiveeran where she played a village belle opposite debutant Karthi. Directed by Ameer, the film was a super-hit venture and paved way for Karthi’s entry into Tamil films.
Priyamani, though, continued to be over-looked by Tamil film producers and directors who kept on offering her the same village girl’s characters. Wanting an image make-over in Tamil, Priyamani starred in glamorous roles in films such as Vishal’s Malaikkottai and Jeevan’s Thotta. She also starred in Surya’s Ratha Sarathiram and in Vikram’s Raavanan but found out to her horror that both the films were failures at the box-office.
Busy with Telugu and Kannada films, Priyamani was recently caught in a mishap. As she has a handful of Kannada films, she has made Bangalore her home. She was shooting for an upcoming Kannada film of hers and was traveling by car to the famous Muthanadhi forests to take part in a shooting schedule.
Some make-up artistes were with her in the car when the car suddenly lost control and dashed against a nearby wall and came to a halt. The villagers, who were nearby, went near the car and rescued Priyamani and others. Fortunately for her, Priyamani escaped unhurt but was visibly shaken by the incident.
The shooting was suspended for a few hours till Priyamani recovered from the shock and resumed later.
