When it comes to narrating human emotions and romance, due credit should be given to director Selvaraghavan. His movies will have a strong screenplay and the characters with great versatility in pouring out emotions.
When he joins with Dhanush, its all the more interesting to watch. After Thulluvatho Ilamai, Kadhal Kondein and Pudhupet, the two come together for Mayakkam Enna.
It is about the travails of a struggling photographer who gets tangled in romance. As it happens its a romance in triangle of sorts reminding one of Kadhal Kondein. But the manner in which Selvaraghavan handles the story make it interesting.
Karthik (Dhanush) is a up-and-coming freelance photographer, who leads a secluded life ( as any lead role in Selvaraghavan’s films). His only desire in life is to become a popular wildlife photographer. He hangs out with his friends and one Sundar (Sundar) is close to his heart.
Kartik is introduced to Yamini (Richa Gangopadhyay), Sundar’s girlfriend. Karthik and Yamini gets acquainted after initial wranglings and war of words. But slowly it blossoms into romance. What happens then in their lives forms the crux.
Dhanush leaves his charm in every frame. he is right there giving his best. The Aadukalam star leaves no stone unturned in ensuring that he gives what his director wants.
His expressions and body language deserve a special mention. Richa Gangopadhyay is not far behind. She gets a meaty role and utilize the opportunity well.
Sundar and the rest of cast play their part well.
Cinematographer Ramji and music composer G.V Prakash Kumar have given their best and their combined effort raises the bar. Selvaraghavan’s dialogues is sure to add pep among the audience.
Thanks to Selvaraghavan’s shrewd screenplay and Dhanush at the center stage, Mayakkam Enna mesmerizes.
