Actor Vijay recently gave away gold chains to the many assistant directors who had assisted director ‘Jayam’ Raja in making Velayudham which hits the screens all over the State on the eve of Dewali on 26th October. Velayudham has hotties Genelia and Hansika Motwani opposite Vijay in what is billed as a ‘pucca’ commercial entertainer with the necessary ingredients of action, comedy and romance thrown in good measure.
Vijay’s Kavalan, which released early this year, ran successfully at the box-office and had broken a long and lean spell he had at the box-office for the past 3-4 years. As such, expectations from his fans are unusually high as Velayudham is said to be Vijay’s first ‘super-hero’ avatar though it’s common knowledge that he plays a milk vendor in the film. Ravichandran of Ascar Films has left no stone unturned in ensuring that the film is produced in a grand manner.
The film was recently viewed by the Censors and got away with an ‘U’ certificate. As this is the first time Raja is directing someone other than his younger sibling and actor ‘Jayam’ Raja and working in a film outside his home production, critics are waiting with bated breath to see how his product has shaped up. The film is said to be the remake of the Telugu hit film Azad.
After watching the film recently, Vijay reportedly expressed his happiness that the final product has come out quite ‘satisfactorily’ and shared his happiness by presenting all the assistant directors with a gold chain and a gold ring.
We only hope Vijay remains in the same happy mood a few weeks after the film’s theatrical release!
