“Everyone in the country is looking for a change. And this is the right time for that,” said Surya, offering his support to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, who was on a fast in New Delhi for the past eight days pressing for a powerful Lokpal Bill.
The actor was speaking at a one-day fast organised in Chennai by the Tamil film industry on Tuesday, to express solidarity to Anna Hazare. “His fight against corruption is making a big impact not just in India, but all over the world,” said Suriya.
Speaking to reporters at the fast venue, director A.R Murugadoss said, “64 years have gone since India attained independence. But still, our Government is yet to fulfil even some of the basic needs of the general public.”
“The reason behind all atrocities is corruption. Only if we eradicate corruption now, the future generation would get to see a new India. This anti-corruption movement should see a great success,” he added. Members from various associations of Kollywood took part in this fast.
