After Sonakshi Sinha & Deepika Padukone walking out of Kamal Hassan‘s ambitious Kollywood project Vishwaroopam, buzz is the South superstar has roped in Sameera Reddy to play his wife in the movie.
Says a source, “Kamal Hassan wanted an actress with a Bollywood connect. Sonakshi Sinha was first signed for it, but unfortunately she left the project due to date as well as weight issues.”
Apparently, Sonakshi Sinha opted out of Kamal Hassan‘s bilingual film due to her prior commitment to Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Rowdy Rathod.
Once she backed out, the grapevine was buzzing with news of Kamal’s offer being rejected by several A-List actresses in Bollywood. Deepika Padukone, who also refused the role, cited a packed schedule as her reason. “Plus she is to star opposite Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan‘s archrival down South,” adds the source.
Finally, Kamal Hassan decided to sign on Sameera Reddy. A source close to the actress confirms, “Yes, she is doing the film. She is very glad to be a part of the project. Though she is too young to play Kamal Hassan‘s wife, it is a big opportunity for her.”
‘Viswaroopam’ from today
The good news is here at last. After much delay and dillydallying, Kamal Hassan will start shooting for his magnum opus ‘Viswaroopam‘ from today. Besides playing the lead role, he will wield the megaphone too.
As we reported already, Ansuhka has been roped in by Kamal to play the female lead. “However, it is unsure for Anushka to attend the shoot today, as she is busy with other commitments. Scenes on Kamal will be shot today,” say sources.
“Kamal Hassan has decided to make Viswaroopam a grand venture in all aspects. It will be a rich movie in content, making and budget. The film will be simultanesouly made in Tamil, Telugu and Hind,” sources in the know add.
“Anushka was very happy when she was approached by Kamal Hassan. Though her dates are full for the next few months, she made some adjustments considering the importance of the film,” sources say, adding: “A grand set has been erected on the Old Mahabalipuram Road for the movie.”
