Lakshmi Menon is the latest addition to the list of Malayalam actresses storming Kollywood. As readers are aware, Asin, Nayantara, Gopika, Meera Jasmine, Banu, Nithya Menon, Shweta Menon, etc. are all actress from God’s Own Country who have made it big in Tamil. 15-year old Lakshmi Menon is only the latest addition to this seemingly never-ending list.
Lakshmi Menon is debuting as heroine opposite another debutant Vikram Prabhu, son of veteran actor Prabhu and grandson of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan. Both the debuting stars are making their celluloid entry with ‘Kumki’, which is directed by Prabhu Solomon. It may be recalled that the film ‘Mynaa’, directed by Prabhu Solomon in 2010, made many sit up and take notice of his work and gave to Tamil films a fine actress in Amala Paul.
Hailing from the port city of Kochi, Lakshmi Menon has reportedly bid good-bye to her studies to try out her luck in Kollywood. Given Tamilians’ penchant for heroines from Kerala, Lakshmi Menon appears to be in for a good tenure. Though she’s new to Tamil, she has already done a solitary film in Malayalam. The film, directed by popular director Vinayan, featured Lakshmi Menon in a small role.
She is thankful that the ‘small role’ she did in Vinayan’s film has helped her land a big fish in Tamil in the form of Prabu Solomon’s film. The baby-faced actress is reportedly tellingher friends and relatives that she would put nothing but her best efforts in ensuring that her debut film ‘Kumki’ (in pure Tamil, it means ‘one who trains elephants’) turns out to be a successful venture!
