No, there is no connection between Sonia Agarwal and Lawrence Raghavendra’s forthcoming film Kanchana. But there is a buzz in K-town that the actress’s comeback film Oru Nadigaiyin Vaakumoolam is loosely based on the life of yesteryear actress Kanchana.
However, Sonia Agarwal is quick to deny that the film is not inspired by the life of any particular actress. ‘It will be a collage of the experiences artistes undergo in the tinsel town. Every actress can relate herself to the role,’ she says.
In Oru Nadigayin Vakku Moolam (Confession of an actress), Sonia Agarwal will be seen as the lead protagonist — an actress. The film is directed by Raj Krishna. ‘He is a great narrator and his style of story telling impressed me a lot,’ Sonia says.
‘This is my second innings in the industry and I’m all set to give it my best shot,’ she says and adds: ‘I want to go raw and to stick to what the director says. And I am hopeful that the film would make it big.’
Sonia to sizzle as an actress in ‘Oru Nadigayin Vakku Moolam’
Actresses attempting comeback in their second innings usually settle for secondary roles like that of a sister, sister-in-law or even that of an ‘young mother. This has invariably happened to all the actresses, the case of Simran being the latest example. In Sonia Aggarwal’s case, though, things appear to be proceeding exactly the same way she had planned for.
Sonia played a small but significant role in ‘Vaanam’, which turned out to be a hit. The film was a good beginning for her second innings in Kollywood and she was adamant that she would only be doing lead roles and not sundry roles. She has now been signed up to play the lead role in ‘Oru Nadigaiyin Vaakumoolam’ (ONV), directed by Rajkrishna. The title amply suggests that the script is about the life of an actress.
Sonia dismisses rumours that the script of the film ‘ONV’ is nothing but her own story. Quizzed about the script, she says, “It is about the entertainment industry in general and in particular about actresses who are forced to lead their lives in a different way because of their popularity. I am putting my best foot forward for ‘ONV’ I am sure that the movie would strike a chord among the audience and go on to become a superhit.”
