Ace director Gautham Menon has clarified that there has been no plans on the anvil to make a sequel to his last year’s highly successful directorial venture ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya‘ which starred Simbu & Trisha in lead roles. The film, the second film from the lead pair, reportedly grossed Rs.30 crores and was one of the success stories of 2010.
The film gave an entirely new image to Simbu who had been criticized by may to be using his ‘fingers’ in his performances instead of putting his heart and soul. Menon’s ‘VTV’ show-cased Simbu’s acting credentials to the hilt in the role of a love-struck youth who would to to any extent to win over his ladylove played by Trisha. The latter’s costumes in the film came in for high praise from the media and her fans.
Reports surfaced last week that Gautham Menon was planning a sequel to VTV which might again star the successful jodi of Simbu & Trisha. In a statement released to the press through his PRO, Menon has clarified that he has no plans of making a sequel to the film. He has added that he was just casually chatting about the possibility of a sequel with Simbu which has been blown ‘out of proportion’ by the media.
He, however, confirmed that he was planning to make another film with Simbu in the lead starring June next year. “I loved working with Simbu in ‘VTV’ and hope to continue the rapport we struck earlier,” says Menon.
