Director Thangar Bachchan had no takers for his script that he finally zeroed in on Prabhu Deva and Bhumika Chawla to play the lead roles. The film has been made for so long that it is finally releasing in theaters on July 29.
Everyone wanted Thangar Bachchan to make a film like Azhagi – his best hit till date. All other films of his had gone down in popularity due to the melodrama in them. Thangar Bachchan is worried about actors not coming forward to act in good scripts.
By the way, it has to be seriously determined what a good script is and if Thangar Bachchan writes one. It looks like Kalavadiya Pozhudugal is a controversial story. Bhumika Chawla plays wife of Prakash Raj who falls in love with a Taxi driver played by Prabhu Deva. Will the moral police protest again? If it is a retrospective narration, that will not invite political groups.
Thangar Bachan speaks on ‘Kalavadia Pozhudhugal’
Known for his outspoken approach, Thangar Bachan is at it again. He says Prabhu Deva and Bhoomika Chawla, the lead actors of his forthcoming film ‘Kalavadia Pozhudhugal’, were initially not his choices.
“However I had no other option than accommodating them as no other actor or actress was ready to act in the film. But I am now thoroughly convinced that none could have performed better than Prabhudeva and Bhoomika,” he says.
“These days, artistes are not ready to be part of good scripts,” he says and adds: “This should change. Those in the industry should realize that script is the real hero. Only then Tamil cinema would reach great heights.”
On ‘Kalavida Pozhudhugal,’ he says, “It is a film which speaks human emotions in an interesting and realistic way. Many asked me to do a movie like Azhagi. Kalavadia Pozhudhugal is my answer to them.”
Thangar Bachan is tired
Thangar Bachan is unhappy with the way actors and actresses in Kollywood treat ‘quality’ stories. ‘No popular hero or heroine was ready to act in Kalavadiya Pozhudhugal,’ says the director-actor-cinematographer.
Produced by Ayngaran International, Kalavadiya Pozhudhugal has Prabhudeva, Bhumika and Prakashraj in lead roles. After much delay, the film is now getting ready to see the light of the day.
‘Since Tamil speaking actresses are not ready to act in the film, I chose Bhumika. She is certainly the right pick for the role and the movie will speak for itself once it hits the screen. Such a great film it is,’ he says.
Urging artistes to concentrate on good scripts, he says, ‘But no one is really ready to support honest attempts. Cinema is a great medium and it should be used in a meaningful way. Otherwise there is no point in being part of the industry.’
