Some years back, Mallika impressed everyone with her debut film ‘Autograph’, directed by Cheran. The dusky girl from the neighbouring Kerala had played a small but significant role in the film. As it would have it, she wasn’t getting any heroine’s role(s) after that but was only getting the roles of sister of the hero or the heroine.
She played Vijay’s sister in Perarasu’s ‘Tirupachi’ and then acted in the ‘Jayam’ Ravi-Trisha starrer ‘Unakkum Enakkum’. Suddenly, the girl with a very homely look disappeared from the scene altogether only to re-surface an year later with a major role in a teleserial which was broadcast on a popular regional channel.
She couldn’t taste any significant success with the lead role in the serial and promptly returned to her native place. After re-charging her batteries, Mallika had recently shot for a photo-shoot in glamourous outfits and has circulated them among producers and directors in a bid to land up the role of a heroine in at least one film.
Thankfully, she has managed to bag a film each in Tamil and Malayalam in which she would be playing lead roles. Let’s wish her all the luck she needs in her second innings!
