Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation in association with the Embassy of Spain, New Delhi and Cinemas du Monde @ The Alliance Francaise of Madras is organising a Spanish Film Festival from 20 to 23 June at the Edouard Michelin Auditorium of Alliance Francaise in Chennai.
The movies to be screened at the festival includes The Orphanage (El Orfanto ) by Juan Antonio Bayona, Butterflies Tongue (La Lengua De Las Mariposas) by Jose Luis Cuerda, The Sea Inside (Mar Adentro) by Alejandro Amenabar, Fernando Trueba’s Belle Epoque, Isabel Coixet’s Elegy.
The Orphanage by Juan Antonio Bayona is a super natural thriller about the haunting secrets of the past resurface when a child mysteriously disappears. The Sea Inside is based on the profoundly moving true story that captured the world’s attention, The Sea Inside is about Spaniard Ramon Sampedro (played by Oscar nominee Javier Bardem), who fought a 30-year campaign to win the right to end his life with dignity.
The Age of Beauty is about a Spanish soldier, who deserts from the army in 1931, only to find himself arrested by a group of local policemen. He is released and soon befriends a lonely, old man in the local village.
