The Tamil film ‘Dhaam Dhoom’, made by the late cinematographer-director Jeeva and which released in 2008, would soon be released in Telugu with the title ‘Rakshakadu’, it was announced.
The film, which starred ‘Jayam’ Ravi, Kangna Ranaut and Laxmi Rai in lead roles, was shot mostly in Russia. It also marked the debut of veteran Tamil and Malayalam actor Jeyaram in a negative role. Laced with action and lovely music, the film was quite successful in Tamil. It was also the Tamil debut of Bollywood beauty Kangana Ranaut.
Jeeva passed away mid-way during the shooting of the film which was then taken over by his wife Anees and other technicians and was completed successfully. Jayam Ravi, who plays a doctor in the film, goes to Russia to attend a conference. Despite being in love with Kangna in India, Jayam Ravi falls for a Russian girl who gets killed accidentally. The blame falls on Jayam Ravi who then is caught up in a hot chase by the Russian cops.
Laxmi Rai plays an advocate in the film, which would soon be released in Telugu in its dubbed version. Harris Jeyaraj’s melodious numbers, which were a major factor in the film turning out to be a super-duper hit in Tamil, might carry the film’s fortunes in Telugu too!
