Even as news comes from Singapore that superstar Rajnikanth is almost back to his normal self and would be discharged soon from the Hospital, a rather interesting piece of information has come in regarding the ‘casting’ of one of the heroines of the star’s upcoming film ‘Raana’.
Reports claim that it was Sonakshi Sinha who was first chosen to be the ‘first’ heroine of the film who later ‘gave way’ to Deepika Padukone. It is said that Rajnikanth felt it very ‘odd’ to pair up opposite the daughter of one of his closest friends (Shatrughan Sinha). Rajnikanth, in the early part of his career, did adopt some mannerisms from Shatrughan Sinha, who later became a close friend of him.
When ‘Raana’ was finalized, Sonakshi Sinha seemed to be the first choice of the producer. Director K.S Ravikumar too wanted to cast Sonakshi Sinha opposite Rajnikanth and informed the latter of his decision. Rajnikanth, however, turned down Ravikumar’s idea of pairing up opposite the daughter of his closest friend in Bollywood. The Sinhas also happen to be close family friends of the superstar’s family.
Only after Rajnikanth backtracked did the choice fell on Deepika Padukone, it is reported. It took more than a couple of months for the secret to come out of the closet.
