The annual elections to the Tamil Film Directors Association is slated for 19th June and there are hot campaigning in this regard. The current President Bharathiraja is on the contest for the second consecutive term who will be pitted against Ameer. The tenure of the President will be two years and 2100 odd members will exercise their franchise.
Sources in the association see the contest to be close with both Bharathiraja and Ameer having large number of supporters. Bharathiraja’s team will consist of Selvamani for Secretary who will be challenged by Cheran and Ezhil for Treasurer for whom the opponent is Jananadan. Ameer is elated and backed by the giants such as A.R Murugadoss, Prabu Solomon, Gautham Menon, Vasanthabalan and Venkatesh.
The irony in this elections is that both Cheran and Amir are on the screen tests for Bharathiraja’s next film Appan Aatha. What a pity for Bharathiraja! Still elections are meant for serious means beyond personal affinity.
