Tamil film industry won the top honours at the 58th National Film Awards announced in New Delhi on Thursday.
Aadukalam was named in six categories, including the best director and best original screenplay awards for Vetrimaran, best actor for Dhanush, best editing for T E Kishore, best choreography for Dinesh Kumar, and special mention for Jayaraman.
Other honours for Kollywood include best actress for Saranya Ponvannan for Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru, which also got Vairamuthu the best lyricist award and was named the best Tamil film. Superstar’s Rajnikanth‘s Endhiran bagged two awards – V Srinivas Mohan got the best special effects award, while Sabu Cyril got the best production design award.
Thambi Ramaiah got the best supporting actor award for his performance in Mynaa. The winners have expressed happiness on being selected for the coveted honours.
