It’s turning to be a big victory for the films that gets the Midas-touch of Udhayanidhi Stalin. Say for instance, the bandwagon of tremendous success in 2011 included – Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, Madharasapattinam, Boss Engira Baskaran and Endhiran. These films proved to be a huge success winning critical acclaims and box office collections. The long queue doesn’t end as ‘Ko’ becomes the year’s biggest opening.
It happened to be a tough combat between ‘Ko’ and ‘Vaanam’ as they opened on alternative Friday. Though ‘Vaanam’ had good word of mouth publicity and fetched good reviews, it didn’t stand out as a profitable flick.
Famous trade analyst of Bollywood Taran Adarsh for the first time opened up on Tamil films as ‘Ko’ and ‘Vaanam’ evoked huge interests much more than Hindi films. In his report, he has mentioned that ‘Ko’ becomes top-grosser in UK and USA while ‘Vaanam’ has a mediocre opening.
In Chennai, Sathyam Cinemas recorded good business for ‘Ko’ as almost all the shows are running house-packed till last night. Moreover, most of the tickets for evening and night shows for next couple of days are full.
Now it’s gonna be a speculative scenario for Sun Pictures’ ‘Engeyum Kadhal’ that opens up with limited screens in most of the theatres.
