The producer of Vikram’s forthcoming film Dheiva Thirumagan, Mogan Nadarajan, has decided to change the movie’s title as Vikramanin Dheiva Thirumagal, following protests from members of Thevar community.
The Tamil Film Producers Council has confirmed this with an official statement. ‘Understanding the sentiments those who were hurt by the film’s title, producer Mogan Nadarajan has come forward to change it as Vikramanin Dheiva Thirumagal,’ it said.
‘Though the film doesn’t portray anyone in bad light and in no way demeans Pasumpon Thevar, Mogan Nadarajan decided to change the title since he did not want to offend anyone,’ say sources.
On Saturday, about 30 members of Thevar Ilaignar Peravai were arrested when they staged a demonstration in front of the residence of demanding that the name of his latest film be changed. Other Thevar movements have also been expressing their opposition to the movie.
