Actress Kiran Rathod has denied that she got married secretly and has said that as and when her marriage takes place, she would announce it to all her friends within and outside the (film) industry.
Kiran debuted as Vikram’s heroine in Saran’s ‘Gemini’ and starred in films like Ajith’s ‘Villain’, Kamal Hassan’s ‘Anbae Sivam’, Prashanth’s ‘Winner’ and Vijaykanth’s ‘Thennavan’. Finding a few takers who were willing to sign her up as heroine, she also did ‘item numbers’ in films, notable among them being the ‘Jakkamma…’ number with Vijay in ‘Thirumalai’.
After starring in some B-grade movies, she now plays a significant role in an upcoming film titled ‘Agaradhi’ which also has ‘Azhagi’ Monika as her co-star. Meanwhile, Kollywood was abuzz with rumours that Kiran had got married ‘secretly’ and that the groom was none other than a close friend of hers, with whom she was spotted on more than one occasion.
Refuting those rumours, Kiran Rathod says, “Some of my friends and relatives have been ringing me up in the past few days asking me why I forgot to invite them to my ‘marriage’. Only then did I realize that rumours about my marriage are floating in film circles. Some producers, who had paid me ‘advance’ amount to star in their films, took back the advance after reading the news item.
“This (rumour) has had an adverse effect on my career. I would like to categorically state that I haven’t yet got married. My concentration is focused in my career alone. I have been on the look-out for roles which would give me some scope to display my acting credentials,” concludes Kiran Rathod.
