Director Vetrimaran is reportedly in a huge dilemma as to what would have to be kept as the backdrop of the script of his third directorial venture. The bearded Vetrimaran has caught the attention of Kollywood with back-to-back hits in ‘Polladhavan’ and ‘Aadukalam’. Interestingly, actor Dhanush is the hero of both the films made by the director as on date.
Vetrimaran is said to be toying with idea of whether to make a story on the underworld culture which is dominantly prevalent in North Chennai or to make an emotional (controversial?) story which would revolve around the (in)famous final offensive by the Lankan Army against the LTTE which resulted in the genocide of ethnic Tamils two years back.
He got help from an unexpected quarter, though. His mother reportedly gave him a short-story and asked him to ‘explore’ the possibilities of making a full-fledged feature film by developing further on the story.
After reading the story, Vetrimaran started jumping in joy and cursed himself for forgetting to consult his mother earlier as she is almost like a ‘story-bank’.
He is now deeply involved in developing the story and penning the screenplay to matchit. For starters, Vetrimaran’s mother is none other than the popular short-story and novel writer Megala Chitravel. No wonder she provided her successful son with an apt alternative!
