Now that elections are over, the ruling DMK’s star campaigner and comedian Vadivelu has come out explaining why he didn’t launch any verbal tirade against the AIADMK supremo.
Vadivelu didn’t mince any words in launching a scathing attack on Vijaykanth (who is part of the opposition alliance led by Amma) but shied away from saying anything negative about Amma, giving rise to speculation from certain quarters that he was probably acting as per ‘instructions’ from the powers-that-be.
“Both the CM and the deputy CM had told me in plain terms to speak only about the welfare schemes initiated by the government and I followed suit,” says Vadivelu, who was appreciated by the deputy CM as the ‘star speaker’ of the ruling alliance.
“I was very happy that people attended my election meetings in larg numbers; it was a nice and novel experience for me. I’m happy that Kalaignar felt pleased about my campaign style. There are certain reasons for my attack on Vijaykanth; we have been having serious differences of opinion for the past few years.
“I have been receiving quite a few number of death threats over phone from anynymous persons. I informed about the same to Kalaignar who has been kind enough to arrange for police protection at my residence,” said Vadivelu.
