In ten days’ time from now, on 6th April, 2011, music wizard A.R Rehman’s biography would be released by Om Books International. Titled A.R Rahman: The Spirit of Music, the publication offers a fascinating insight into the world surrounding the musician. Rahman’s open-hearted attitude comes through as he talks about anything and everything one wanted to know about his personal life and his thoughts about the world of music.
Penned by renowned film historian Nasreen Munni Kabir who has produced over 80 documentaries on Indian cinema, this book, she provides hitherto unheard facts about the reluctant music superstar’s private life. Besides containing photographs from his personal collection, the book also offers a gratis CD full of music composed by him.
The lone Indian to have won the coveted Oscar twice and also the Grammys, Rahman is credited as the one who has redefined the contemporary Indian film music. After producing many jingles for commercials, he debuted with Maniratnam’s Roja almost two decades back and impressed one and all. His song “Jai Ho” from Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire topped the musical charts all around the world.
Ajay Mago Om Books International says that it was a honour for them to be publish this book.
