The ‘Kalavaani’ girl Oviya has completed the shooting schedule of her upcoming film ‘Muthukku Muthaga’, which has Saranya Ponvannan playing a pivotal role. Directed by Rasu Mathuravan (of ‘Goripalayam’ fame), the film has had good pre-release publicity, if the attention drawn by its audio-launch a few weeks back was any yardstick to go by.
Trade pundits predict that Oviya is here to stay and that her performance in her debut film ‘Kalavaani’ wasn’t a fluke. The highly-committed Oviya recently shot for the film ‘Muthukku…’ despite running high temperature and advised complete rest by the doctors. Mathuravan is all praise for Oviya’s commitment and said that the actress went ahead with the shooting schedule as everything had been ready and cancellation of shooting would have resulted in huge loss.
Singing a duet with high temperature may not be a favourite idea for many but Oviya did it with aplomb. “The song was an energetic one with fast-paced steps; I’m glad that I could do it quite well,” shrugs Oviya. She also assures that ‘Muthukku….’, in which she plays a basketball player, has a beautiful script penned by Rasu Mathuravan and is bound to be a sure-fire hit at the box-office.
The multi-starrer film is getting ready for its theatrical release by the month end or in early April. Oviya is confident of the film’s showing even as she cautiously selects her films from the many offers that are thrown at her. Her next release would be the Kannada remake of ‘Kalavaani’. She believes in doing one at a time to devote time and energy to the particular film.
