The lovely-looking Anjali has a mind of her own and doesn’t blindly take whatever is offered to her. The Kerala-born Anjali shot to fame and star-status with her last year’s realistic hit ‘Angaadi Theru’; yet, for some reasons, she hasn’t been able to deliver another ‘telling’ hit during the past 12 months.
Anjali’s latest film ‘Thoonga nagaram’, though, has been declared a ‘hit’ by trade pundits. “It’s a fact that I rejected quite a few offers as the scripts were nothing much to comment on. In fact, they were worse than some Telugu scripts I was narrated some time back which too were not agreed to by me. I’m in the industry not merely to make money but a bit of a name for myself as an actress,” says the actress whose smile can floor (m)any.
Anjali’s next film would be an yet-to-be titled venture opposite Jai and directed by Saravanan, an erstwhile assistant of director-producer A.R Murugadoss. “Expectations are more from the audience especially after Angaadi Theru. Saravanan Sir’s script has a character for me, which is as good as what I played in Angaadi… I was busy with some other projects when this offer first came my way and I told Saravanan that I’d talk to him later.
“It was Murugadoss Sir who spoke to me over phone and asked me to first listen to the script and then decide about starring in it. The moment I heard the script, I agreed to star in the film,” says Anjali and assures that viewers would be in for a ‘surprise’ to find a very ‘different’ Anjali in the film.
