Actress Sona Heiden, who became an entrepreneur by launching her hi-style ‘Boutique’ on Chennai’s arterial Anna Salai two years back, turned producer with the film ‘Kanimizhi’, which starred Jai and newcomer Shazahn Padamsee in the lead and released last year. Her dreams of turning producer was short-lived as the film, directed by first-timer Sripathy Rangasamy, bombed miserably at the box-office despite the pre-release publicity it enjoyed thanks to the title of the film.
Sona, who has been around for the past many years, hasn’t been able to make it big in Tamil films though she played the heroine in the sexy thriller ‘Pathukku Pathu’ some time back. Despite her oomph factor, the film didn’t do as well as expected, leading her to turn producer.
She even played a small role in the film ‘Kuselan’ which had Pasupathy and Meena in lead roles with superstar Rajnikanth making a guest appearance in his 25-minute long stint in the film.
Sona’s appearance in public events and filmy launches has always been ‘hot’ with her revealing costumes keeping the photographer busy. After stiff opposition from many quarters, Sona said she’d avoid doing so. Now she has said that she would soon be returning to films as an actress as she couldn’t bear the ‘brunt’ of being a film-producer.
She, however, won’t be doing glamour roles and would look forward to doing ‘meaningful’ roles in future!
