Remember S.S Kumaran, a salaried class employee who quit a high-paying job to give vent to his burning ambition to become a music director? Kumaran’s music in his debut film as composer in Sasi’s ‘Poo’ more than an year ago won him appreciation from many within and outside the industry. He then followed it up with last year’s super-hit film ‘Kalavaani’, which had nice melodies.
In an unexpected development, Kumaran has turned director and has launched a film titled ‘Theneer Viduthi’. Even before one could blink his eyes in disbelief as to what made the soft-spoken Kumaran to switch over to directing films from composing music for them, Kumaran has gone ahead and completed the entire shooting of the film in a single stretch of 40 days!
Kumaran, though, didn’t have a trouble-free stint during those forty days, Unit sources reveal. He fell ill on the second day of the shooting stint but didn’t take any rest. Doctors who attended to him said that Kumaran, who had largely remained indoors composing music and re-recording, couldn’t withstand the chill climate and had taken ill.
Kumaran got himself treated and continued to shoot till he completed the film and returned to Chennai only after the entire shooting was over. One now hears that the post-production work is in progress, with the audio-launch slated for February.
