Even as the allegations and counter-allegations are being hurled at each other by actress Vanitha and her family consisting of parents and actors Vijayakumar, Manjula, Arun Vijay and others, Vanitha has said that if need be, she won’t even hesitate to approach the Human Rights Commission to thwart the death threats meted out against her by her family members.
A couple of days ago, the police filed cases under three sections against actor Arun Vijay after Vanitha complained that her half-brother had sent ‘henchmen’ to issue a murder threat to her. Unconfirmed sources say that the police, which awaits Arun Vijay’s return to Chennai from the U.S., might arrest him the moment he turns up in Chennai.
Vanitha, who had secured an anticipatory bail against her arrest, had complained against her parents Vijayakumar and Manjula too. Based on her complaint, the couple, which is presently said to be in Hyderabad, might be arrested on its return to Chennai, it is said in police circles.
Mediator efforts between the warring factions of the families have already been initiated but Vanitha appears adamant in not seeking truce unless the case against her husband Anandaraj is withdrawn by her family. She has now said that if the need arises, she won’t even hesitate to knock at the doors of the State Human Rights Commission seeking justice.
“I have been informed by my friends that my parents (read Vijayakumar) are trying to secure the support of ‘political bigwigs’ to wriggle themselves out of the case. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t need anybody’s support as I’m on the side of justice. I have been getting words of support from many human rights organizations and women’s movements. I’m also planning to approach the Human Rights Commission in this regard,” said Vanitha, who starred in a few movies as heroine in the early nineties.
