Actress Sangeetha, one of the genuinely talented actresses around, is surprisingly in demand for lead roles in films despite her marriage to beau and playback singer Krish late last year. She is playing a significant role in director K.S Ravikumar’s upcoming film ‘Manmadhan Ambu’, which stars Kamal Haasan, Trisha & Madhavan in lead roles and is produced by Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies.
Sangeetha has lodged a complaint with the Nadigar Sangam, of which she is a member, that the producers of her upcoming film ‘Thambikkottai’ haven’t yet paid her fees as specified in the contract. The film, whose promos are on air in various regional television channels, stars Naren & Poonam Bajwa in the lead and brings together the (g)olden pair of Prabhu & Meena in significant roles.
Sangeetha, who plays a negative but major role in the film, has stated in her petition with the Nadigar Sangam that “Though the shooting of ‘Thambikkottai’ has been completed, the producers are yet to settle my dues to the tune of Rs.3.5 lakhs. As per the terms and conditions stipulated in the contract, the amount should have been paid to me 9 months ago i.e. by February itself.
“I haven’t yet been paid the sum so far. The cheque given by the producers against the payment due to me has ‘bounced’ at the bank for lack of funds in their account. After that, I tried many times in vain to get in touch with the producers to demand the amount due to me. They neither attended my call nor returned my calls to them.
“It is in this backdrop, I request the Nadigar Sangam to intervene in the matter and ensure that the amount due to me is paid to me by the producers,” concluded Sangeetha in her petition. The Sangam would ‘scrutinize’ the petition and would soon be forwarding the same to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) for further necessary action at their end.
